It’s not every day a washing machine falls out of the sky. But when you’re trying to get a younger audience to care about something they can’t even see, subtlety isn’t going to cut it.
For Calgon, we created a campaign that turned an invisible problem — limescale build-up inside washing machines — into something impossible to ignore. Because while the damage might be hidden, the cost of ignoring it definitely isn’t.
Calgon has been protecting washing machines for decades, but in a world of fast upgrades and “it’ll be fine” attitudes, maintenance has slipped down the priority list — especially for younger households.
The challenge was simple: make people care about what’s happening inside their machine, before it’s too late.
Our solution was anything but subtle. We dramatised the consequences of ignoring limescale build-up with an unexpected, high-impact visual — a washing machine literally dropping out of the sky. Arresting, memorable and impossible to scroll past, the film reframed a functional message into something bold, entertaining and highly shareable.
The campaign ran across broadcast and digital in Germany, delivering a fresh take on a long-standing household brand and reminding audiences that even the most advanced machines still need protection.
